About Save Pottstown!!

Share

Save Pottstown!! was created as a public service to the taxpayers and community of Pottstown, Pennsylvania.  The very few voters of Pottstown (1,900 in a town of 22,000+) recently voted into office Thomas Hylton, who currently sits on the Pottstown School Board.  This blog presents articles on Hylton, those presently available (for free!) on the internet.  Additionally, documents secured through Pennsylvania’s Right to Know Law will be included on this site.

Hylton won his seat on school board through the time tested tradition of fear tactics using a variety of methods: slick expensive brochures mailed to residents of Pottstown and paid advertising on the opinion page of his former employer The Mercury.  He packaged himself as a 1) a preserver of Pottstown’s so-called neighborhood schools, 2) a practicer of fiscal responsibility, and 3) a promoter of open government.  His writings often only tell one side of the story and leave many facts not addressed or simply omitted from the equation.  Our goal with this blog is to present the facts omitted and to present the whole story so that readers can become educated to the actions of their elected officials.

Knowledge is power.  Please read the articles posted and absorb!  And enjoy!

A cup of coffee? Heck, I’ll buy this blogger a steak and lobster dinner with all the trimmings. By getting the truth out about Mr. Hylton he/she is doing more to “save Pottstown” than anyone has for a long, long time.

All I can say is I feel really bad for the person who started this hateful blog – it’s clear you are in serious need of counseling. Many people in this town are working hard to improve the community. This blog is totally unproductive. You should get some professional help. Good Luck.

my, oh my – downtowner… you are truly in a state of denial. perhaps there is a group discount at the shrink??? i assume, by your alias, that you live in the downtown – neighbors with hylton, i presume??? i honestly can’t believe that he has you hook-line-and sinker. relationships of any sort with hylton usually only works out for a limited amount of time if you have half a brain in your head and want to use it… and i certainly hope so for you. he discards anyone who decides to think on their own or have ideas that vary in anyway from his.

savepottstown…i like the way you think, keep up the good work!
as far as the counseling goes..
who has a peep mirror above who’s door? …enough said.

    ptowndowntowner,

Hateful? Perhaps some posts could be described as hateful. I’d agree that I’d rather read less barbs on these pages. They may distract some readers from the facts.

However the “Save Pottstown” blogger is not in need of counceling. His/her head is clear. The truth is that Mr. Hylton has done more than any single individual to hold Pottstown back with his outdated, unworkable, unaffordable ideology and his refusal to listen to what others have to say or to work with others to the betterment of our community. The sooner the People of Pottstown understand that, the sooner Pottstown can make difinitive progress. Therefore this blog is certainly not unproductive. It’s like a breath of fresh air, albeit perhaps with a little “hate” mixed in.

The fact is that Mr. Hylton’s circumventive denigrative tactics often have a tendencey to bring out the worst in the good people of Pottstown who actually care about the folks who live here, and the future of our town. Tom brings those feelings upon himself. That is sad.

  7. We here at Save Pottstown!! are very passionate people – and get worked up when we see the same injustices occur time after time – especially when those injustices happen and nobody calls them out.

Over the years we’ve been living in Pottstown we have been witness to the underhanded tactics used by Tom Hylton to tear people down. Far too many good decent people have been sidelined by his actions (and some have even moved out of town) and now that he is a public official, the kid gloves are off.

While we agree that we sometimes go off the deep end, after being force fed Hylton’s lines of BS over the years (and seeing that none of it works), we can only retort with the facts and our own personal experiences (and those experiences of people who have first hand knowledge of the facts). We did, at one time, honestly believe a good deal of his beliefs…but after a lot of reading and research (and what we’ve seen living in Pottstown), we don’t buy any of it anymore. Hylton has been trying for 36+ years to get things changed in Pottstown…and we just don’t see where his efforts have paid off for the borough or its taxpayers. He seems to have profited handsomely from his efforts though.

So, if you don’t like our blog. No problem. Don’t visit our site. You have free will. We will continue to expose the facts that Hylton never does. We will continue to comment on ideas that Hylton never proposes. As long as we live in Pottstown and continue to be Pottstown taxpayers, we will continue to fight injustice and discrimination in the best way we know how…through words and actions.

    Thanks for reading!!

As I am a previous employee of the Borough, I have seen firsthand many of the acts described and alot that people wouldn’t even believe. How about we could have had another business in town on Keystone Blvd. that would have been a transfer station for garbage and recycling. Not only would it have created jobs in town, it may also have resulted in a lower trash bill for residents as the trash did not have to be hauled as far and as part of their recycling program they rewared you with gift cards depending on how much you recycled. Why did Tom not like this idea? Was it the smell? No. The facility would be completely enclosed. Was it the location? How many people even know where Keystone Blvd. is. Than what was it? Ready for this: Tom did not want the trash trucks to dive past the Community College. Does that make sense to anyone since trash trucks drive past there now. Just one more example of one man trying to run a town through the back door.

So why dont you just come out and say who you are and stop hiding behind a stupid blog? Be for real!

This is the best thing since free speech. Only the cronies hiding in this town would not want the truth about Tom H known. This website should be the foster child for Pottstown if we were smart. Keep up exposing Hylton’s motives, figures of deception and plans of destruction for this town.
And as far as a cup of coffee, dinner or whatever better go out of town for that cos the good old boys inhabit most of the places in downtown.

Someone is really need to have ther head examined here. Mr. Hylton was elected to represent the people and got about the same amount of votes as the other new school board members yet his was not a win. I feel bad for the person who put all this together, they must have a very sick obsession with Mr Hylton. There is other things to life than trying to teardown other people. By the way there are a few things on this sight that are not correct and are potentially liable.

john – why don’t you clear up the confusion for us all then, since, by the buzz on the street and the comments i keep noticing from new writers, there seems to be an ever growing amount of us on this site. maybe we could all feel better about your pottstown friend that way? i can’t speak for whomever put this blog together – but i do say thank you, thank you, thank you to them everyday as i log onto the site. as for myself, adding comments to this blog isn’t about tearing your friend down, it is about finally having a glimmer of a hope that the citizens may be able to start to take our town back – a town that has been almost completely dictated by a single person’s agenda for far too long! perhaps it is harder to recognize this from a town or two away – actually, i’m quite sure it is. however, for the many, many of us that have been entrenched in a mess in our town that can largely be attributed to one individual’s continual inflexibility, rigidness, and obstructiveness … so much so that we can barely breath, savepottstown.com has been like an oxygen mask! keep breathing the life into us, SP…heaven knows the town is in code blue!!!

This site is AMAZING!! I look forward to reading it everyday!

The ONLY thing remotely sick about these people is they waited this long to do something so wonderful!!

Going out of town for a get together to thank anyone involved with the treasues found here is an excellent idea…looks like Boyertown is out, too!

downtowner…not much I can say to you, obviously you are a lost cause. The idea that someone has to reveal his/her/their identity to you or anyone else is ludicrous ESPECIALLY since, as a show of good faith, you’re giving up no information about yourself. The same aninimity you enjoy is their right, too!!

Further, if you like livin’ in the past build a time machine!! Then you can go back and enjoy all the good press about Hylton’s kind and thoughtful deeds in his youth. As an added benefit you can enjoy reading his articles for The Mercury from back-in-the-day!!

Save Pottstown…let the hits keep on comin’!!!

Curoius who put this website together. I move from Pottstown in August and followed the eb and tide of the school board news. I’ll bet Pottstown past Economic Director has something to do with this site. I remember she got a job with the school district making big bucks for doing nothing to help cut cost. As for all the new posts they are not nescessary unique viewers either.

If it was not her I like to know who it is but we may never know.
