Fear Factor
POTTSTOWN, PA – Today’s print and online editions of The Mercury contain a great “guest columnist” letter penned by former Pottstown School Board member Amy Francis. You can read the letter here:
Fear of change stands in the way of progress
Amy is also involved in the Code Blue organization, which we featured in our Code Blue! Code Blue! post earlier this week.
It’s nice to see former school board members (who know what they’re talking about) staying involved while the majority of the current board fiddles around while Rome burns.

I tried to post a short message — “Great Photo!” — but the computer tells me it is too short.
How the hell does it know how tall I am?
Amy — this was incredible well said! Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and insightful letter.
Well written and poignant Amy…Kudos for all of your hard work and for calling our communities attention to one of the most salient issues of our time.
Congrats to the people of Pottstown who have heard the call and are taking responsibility to speak out on behalf of our children and taxpayers.
“If we sit back and do nothing we deserve the community that we have.
If we join together and work hard we will have the community that we deserve”.
I was glad to see it made it after the sham that occurred last night!!
This was a well-written point of view that should be required reading for most every community member! It’s not about fighting change it (for me) is about getting to the central issue and intent of this voting bloc AND finding good solutions that will FAR outweigh the costs and educational sacrifices I see in this thought process and way of doing business!!
A SD is a business and must keep its ppatrons and employees happy while doing its job…as evidenced last night there is little interest in ‘coming clean’ and beginning discussion; this is what makes our SB dysfunctional and the interests of those SB members suspect and self-serving – petition anyone???
monkeybizness – if you start a petition to exorcise the Devil and his minions, let me know! If I could sign more than once, I certainly would!!
Thanks…it may become necessary…votes have been revoted before to change the action to be taken!
I don’t want to jump the gun of political outcry too quickly…
Be at the ready and consider getting like-minded people together!!
Check out the Code Blue cause…yahoo email and facebook (if you do the facebook ‘thing).
I would wholeheartedly recommend checking out the Coffee Party movement that is currently in place. Their goals and objectives are very similiar to how Code Blue and other groups describe themselves. It would be great to see a Pottstown Chapter of the Coffee Party. It seems like there is a need for it in the community. This is a way for all the smaller groups popping up to collectively come together. It is the truest form of Power to the People!
I urge you to give a few minutes of your time to check it out: http://www.coffeepartyusa.com/
Here’s a recent CNN article: http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/03/12/coffee.party.people/index.html
Hey Pottstown Guy…I just took a few minutes and it’s gonna take more time to give it a real look see. I had heard something about this before and want to read a bunch of the news articles…you might be onto something here. I have to check on what other people think and give tham time to read it too. Perhaps it will be a goal to end up affiliated w/ the ‘brew masters’. ‘Common grounds’…great plays on words – I loved the wit!!!
