We Love Letters!

POTTSTOWN, PA – Save Pottstown!! just loves to read letters in The Mercury.  Today’s print and online editions of The Mercury contain two wonderful letters written by folks only wanting the best for Pottstown.

You can read both letters here:

Pottstown School Board decision will force another property tax increase

Time to voice your opinion

And if anyone really cares, there’s also another ho-hum propaganda advertisement on today’s Mercury opinion page.  And isn’t that just funny…it only appears in the print edition and not online.  Hmmm.  But yesterday’s tool of mass distraction appeared in BOTH the print and online editions.  Yes, that’s right true believers…when you pay a little extra $$$ to The Mercury you can have your advertisements appear both online and in print.  Poor Mr. Hylton…he could have saved himself some $$$ because we here at Save Pottstown!! read both the print and online editions of the paper.  We’re very well informed.

Isn’t it also funny that the two letters appearing in today’s Mercury were not written by any of those dastardly hateful and bullying former school board members?  We guess there must be others in Pottstown who don’t agree with Mr. Hylton and his tax-ladened grandiose schemes.

The important thing folks is that you make your best effort to attend this Thursday’s school board meeting and voice your opinion to the board and JUST SAY NO to more taxes.  Tell Mr. Hylton and his Fiscally Irresponsible team members exactly where they can put that multi-million dollar tax-increasing loan application they’re so hot and heavy with.

Thanks to Katy Jackson (and the members of Citizens for Pottstown Revitalization) and Helen Mackewicz for taking the time to write letters.

As everyone knows…it’s important to put it in writing!

NOTE:  Since this post was published, The Mercury made today’s propaganda opinion page advertisement available online.  If you need a good laugh, you can read it here.

You, as a group, should feel ashamed by the stunt you pulled this week. To picket outside someone’s home is just wrong. I am embarrassed for you. You owe Rick an apology. That’s his home, its private property, and he earns the right not to have people picketing his house.
You also owe Mrs. Hylton an apology. Some of things your group has said about her is wrong. I don’t know her, but even if she was an awful woman, she is not in the public eye. You want to slander the school board, go ahead, call them names. It ultimately lessens your arguments and invalidates you as an organization.
Whatever the outcome of this debate, you will still have to live in this town. You will have to live with the things you have said and done. Are you sure that you can do that?

Wow!!!! Did you miss the day in school where you were taught about the first ammendment? It is our right given under the Constitution of The United States of America to assemble wherever and whenever we choose as long as we do so peacefully and without incident!!!!! This same ammendment gives us the rgiht to free speech and speak is what we have been doing but up until now we have been unheard. We were not only not on his property he thanked us all several times for coming out and letting our feelings be known. For the record we were not actually on Mr Huss’ property we were on the sidewalk and in the street in front of his home which is actually public property so get your facts straight before you go accusing anyone of anything. We were not disruptive or rude to Mr Huss in any way either!!!!!

Why is it alright for Mr Hylton to say rude things about other people and to question their motives at any chance he gets? Doesn’t that rule run both ways? He also has said things that should make everyone question his credibility yet all that happens is that people like you ignore it and attack people who just want to be heard!!!!

I myself have never seen anyone say anything about Mrs Hylton however she is far from the public eye!!! She sits at every meeting taking very in depth notes for her husband to then use as personal attacks on others. If you lay down with dogs you will get up with fleas!

I don’t care if you were across the street from his house. I know its your first amendment right, however there are common laws of decency. You don’t picket a man’s house. its over the line.

If you notice I said that Tom Hylton is fair game to your barbs, he is in the public eye. His wife on the other hand is not, I have seen multiple posts in the mercury from people who are linked to your organization. No matter who she is married to its over the line.

You guys need to learn to play nice, otherwise it might come back to bite you.

Also did you expect Rick to come out and yell at you? No, he’s a nice guy and wants to try to involve everyone in the process. Still not right.

Actually, seemed like a pretty darned effective way to be heard – outside the SB mtg – and didn’t infringe upon anyone’s right(s). It ended up looking like a group coffee clutch. I don’t believe there were any verbal demands or threats and no public disturbance was made. I mean, if it were meant to be nasty or riotous then I could see objections and apologies needing to be issued. Oh and the sun was shining brightly today so it was a good day for people to get out and embrace the change of season with a renewed sense of hope.

eddie, if you don’t knnow Mrs. Hylton how can you say things said were wrong (or do mean just against your code of ethics)? IF Mrs. Hylton wishes to put herself out in public to support her hubby she becomes a political figure, by association. IF she electes to take notes for him, she becomes ‘part of his machine’. I am curious why he can’t take notes for himself, most other SB members do. When does his seeming ‘special privilege’ of ‘I have people for that’ end? Further, I have ‘heard’ the Mrs. is requested to be at certain school events due to the lack of respect and inability to communicate calmly w/ others on the part of the Mr. IF this continues on, perhaps she should get a wage and be dubbed ‘Press Secretary’

I don’t think there’s a whole lot of shame in ‘callin’ it like you see it!! Mr. Hylton appears to be impervious to others commentary (both verbal and non-verbal)…point of fact, he just wants to sqaush the anti-Hylton ‘speak’ and will do it anyway he can, being an exceptionally tenacious individual. Giving as good as he gets, other people have the same resolve to NOT let him take the ‘keys to the kingdom and lock the door’!!
