A Double Header!

POTTSTOWN, PA – This is a special meeting double-header alert folks!  Tonight is Pottstown Borough Council’s monthly Committee of the Whole meeting.  From the items on the agenda, it looks like it will be an interesting meeting:

Borough Council 100804_COW_ Agenda

There’s something for everyone…rental properties shut off…rental license ordinance…shade tree ordinance.  Come one, come all!

While the public is not usually permitted to address Council during this meeting, it’s still worth your while as a Pottstown taxpayer to attend the meeting.  The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Pottstown Borough Hall, 100 East High Street, 3rd floor, Council Meeting Room.

The other meeting alert is for the Pottstown School Board’s Committee of the Whole meeting, which takes place at 7:30 Thursday night in the LGI Room of the Pottstown Middle School.  The Middle School is located at 600 North Franklin Street.

Here is the agenda for Thursday night’s meeting:

School Board Committee of the Whole Agenda 8-5-10

The Reynolds Energy Audit Report sounds like an interesting presentation.  Other than that, we don’t see any red flags.  But you never can tell!

Speaking of red flags…it’s been a long time since we’ve seen any paid hylton-a-torials within the pages of The Mercury.  We’re sure that Nancy March could use that $265.83 advertising check right about now…since August is a slow time for advertising buys. Maybe our favorite school board member really did get kidnapped by another First Suburb community.  Or maybe he piled his Pottstown petri dishes and tree saplings into his 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood and motored on down to Disney’s lesser known theme park…Fantasyland.

The School Board’s Committee of the Whole meeting does allow for public comment, so if you’re so moved, you may address the board (just make sure that all board members are seated – and not roaming about – when you do so).

Remember folks that these dedicated individuals are working for YOU…the Pottstown taxpayer.

Be there or be square!

One Response to “A Double Header!”

  1. Compton

It’s unfortunate that the Boro Council meeting is not open to public comment tonight. The Code Blue group is calling for an immediate ban on chopping up single family homes into multiple unit rentals. Code Blue has reached out to all of the Council members and the Boro Manager. Code Blue also sent a press release to our friend Evan Brandt at the Mercury. Only one Council member has responded. Councilman Rhoads has responded in favor of the ban. Councilman Rhoads also introduced the ban for consideration at the May Infrastructure meeting. The Mercury has yet to say anything about a rental ban. While Council drags their feet and the Mercury does not raise public awareness of the issue by putting an article in the paper swarms of investors may jump on available properties for carving purposes since they can no longer do it in Norristown.

Get off your asses Council and do something fast for once!!
Get off your asses Mercury and print an article to raise awareness and put pressure on Council!!
