Open Season on the Criminal Element
POTTSTOWN, PA – As a result of public pleas from concerned Pottstown citizens that began at last Monday’s Borough Council Meeting, a community meeting will be held this Wednesday, November 17, starting at 6:30 p.m., at Invictus Ministries (79 North Hanover Street) to discuss public safety and crime in Pottstown.
Pottstown Police Chief Mark Flanders and Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman will join Pottstown Mayor Bonnie Heath in leading the discussion.
The meeting is open to all concerned citizens of Pottstown.
The Mercury ran an article on this very important meeting as their lead story today:
Police chief, D.A. to address crime in Pottstown
If you are a Pottstown resident and sick and tired of the scumbag criminal element that has made its unwanted presence known more loudly in the past few months, you really need to attend this meeting to hear what Chief Flanders and D.A. Vetri Ferman have to say on this important matter.
We will definitely see you there!

Be sure to say what’s on your mind too, they need to listen as well as talk. We don’t want to be buffaloed by a bunch of hype and talk – we want and deserve the straight skivvy. If you have ideas or questions, don’t hold back because the truth needs to be told, and questions need answers.
Maybe – just maybe – Pottstown can take advantage of this huge negative by turning it into a positive: the energy to grab (FINALLY)the proverbial bull by the horns and fix what’s ailing this town.
Let’s revisit the idea of a MAJOR project that would have a massive and immediate impact on quality of life by eliminating blight, improving property values, restoring a more equitable tax base, reducing crime, and attracting a different kind of resident than we have been. Yes, I’m talking about something major… something like the consolidated campus. I believe the state, the county, and maybe even the federal government would still support such an innovative public-private partnership project.
The schools still need to be fixed. Why not leverage the dollars that are going to be spent to get REAL change, REAL improvement on MULTIPLE levels?
Maybe the fear of semi-automatic gun spray across their front porch will trump the fear of their kid having to go to a different school. Maybe fear of more-of-the-same will trump fear of change. Maybe fear of what “progress” is bringing to Pottstown in the 2010s will help people get past their fear that if we tear down a couple of houses or schools we will never find our way back to 1960.
Maybe.
One can hope anyway.
