Laughter Needed

POTTSTOWN, PA – Seriously folks.  Every time we drive out of Pottstown we can feel the tension in the air as soon as we cross the borough line back into town.

People in Pottstown really need to lighten up and laugh more (a lot more).

One need look no further than this week’s borough council meeting or on any given day in The Mercury’s Sound Off section.

Why are folks in Pottstown so pissed off 100% of the time?  Is it something in the water?  Are folks wearing underwear that’s two sizes too small?  Is it the big fish in the little pond theory?  What the hell is the problem?

SavePottstown!! is all for a zero tolerance policy in Pottstown…but not in the humor department.

How do we fix this problem?

Starting a Laughter Club in Pottstown.

Seriously.

In 1995, Indian physician Dr. Madan Kataria started a Laughter Yoga Club with only five people.  Today, the Laughter Movement is widely accepted and has become a global phenomenon with over 6,000 clubs in 60 countries. Realizing the tremendous power of laughter and its efficiency as the best prescription for wellness, Laughter Clubs have brought smiles and laughter in the lives of many people suffering from physical and mental and emotional upsets.

For humans to be happy, one needs a network of healthy emotional relationships with a group of people who care about us, and about whom we care. To achieve this goal, Social Laughter Clubs have proved very valuable as they provide important social networking benefits, that have changed the lives of many, and driven them away from loneliness and isolation.

Laughter Clubs are fully independent, not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious and non competitive community-based associations of diverse people where all are welcome regardless of gender, age, physical abilities, social or economic backgrounds. They practice the Laughter Yoga method of Laughing for no reason as a form of exercise.

C’mon folks…your lack of humor is really dragging Pottstown down.  Nobody wants to be around angry and moody people with chips on their shoulders and axes to grind.

Lighten up everyone!!

Start laughing more and being pissed off less.

Whether you’re serious or not remains a question in my mind but I agree with a current radio talk show host (Dennis Prager) on the topic, “Happiness is a Serious Problem” – they’re certainly are a lot of unhappy, pissed off, mean spirited, argumentative people and perhaps especially at this time of year, people should actively seek happiness and some degree of contentment, if not for their own health, for all the people around them.

    Thanks for the blog. :-)

The Buddhist Monk handed the hotdog vendor a $10 bill for a $3.75 meal. Bidding him a nice day the vendor went about his business as the Monk quizzically inquired, “what about my change”?

    “Change”? Asked the Vendor. ”

“Why, yes, replied the Monk”. “Ahhhh but is it not true, honorable one, that change comes from within”?
