Get Out and VOTE!
POTTSTOWN, PA – In today’s print and online editions of The Mercury, there are three excellent articles concerning the future of the Pottstown School District. Two of the articles highlight the candidates running in Tuesday’s primary election and the third article discusses this past Thursday night’s school board finance meeting.

There was an earlier article on Thursday night’s finance meeting posted online this past Friday (the day after the meeting) and you can read that article here.
For the article highlighting the ten candidates running for the five open school board seats, each candidate was given a questionnaire comprising of eight questions. An edited summary of their responses appears in today’s print edition and the complete profiles can be read online here .
We were happy to see that The Mercury finally got around to reporting on the criminal past of Pottstown School Board member Thomas Hylton’s hand-picked school board candidate William Habekost. We posted information on this revealing development over three weeks ago in Another Criminally Bad Decision.
We’re still perplexed as to why Tom Hylton’s slate of candidates continue to stick to their talking points about being against new construction. Which candidates running are promoting new construction? Nobody is promoting any kind of new construction…except for Tom Hylton in his quest for a sixth elementary school. The Pottstown School District definitely does not need any new construction. Quite the contrary…we need to sell off and retire the overabundant amount of elementary schools we have. We simply cannot afford to have elementary schools all over town. Anyone who thinks we can is living in a 1950s fantasyland.
This Tuesday is a very important turning point for the future of the Pottstown School District. Do you want more of the same backoffice troublesome politicizing that has gotten us nowhere? Or do you want candidates who will work together with all community members to do what’s best for our children and their education?
Please make sure to vote this Tuesday!!
And as they say in Philly…vote early and vote often!!
